In 2013 Avkash Kana booked a last minute trip to New York to visit his fiancé. Having worked as a revenue manager for Hilton hotels, he knew that booking a last-minute hotel room would be expensive. He looked for other options and rented an apartment through Airbnb for far cheaper than its value.
